Editing PDF text: frequently asked questions

Does the new text keep the original font?

Yes. When the font embedded in the PDF contains every character you type, the line is rewritten in that very font, at the same size, in the same colour and at the same place. If it is partial (a PDF often embeds only the letters it already uses), Certyneo Reader looks for the same font installed on your computer, then for the same font if it is free to download. As a last resort it uses a font with the same dimensions, such as Carlito for Calibri. The Document fonts panel shows in advance what will be used for each font.

Does the paragraph reflow if my text is longer?

No, the text is not reflowed: each line is replaced in place. If your correction is longer than the original, shorten the wording or add a line of text below.

Which characters can I type?

The Latin alphabet with all its accents, as well as Greek and Cyrillic in most fonts. The rare characters no available font can write, such as emojis, are replaced, and the interface warns you.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server to be edited?

No. Editing is computed entirely in your browser. Certyneo never receives, stores or looks at your document, and no watermark is added.

Can I edit the text of a scanned PDF?

A scan is only an image, so it contains no line of text to retype. You can still add text anywhere on the page.

Does this PDF need to be signed?

Send it for electronic signature in minutes: your signers sign from their phone, without creating an account.
