Delete your Certyneo account and your data

Last updated: 13 September 2026

You can delete your Certyneo account at any time, from the mobile app or the website. This page explains the steps to follow, what happens to your data, and how to make the request if you can no longer sign in.

1. Delete your account from the app or the website

Deletion takes a few minutes, from your signed-in workspace:

  1. Open Settings › Account, then click "Delete my account".
  2. Type the confirmation phrase requested, then your password. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, no password is asked: the confirmation email stands in for it.
  3. We send a confirmation email to your account address. The link it contains is valid for 24 hours. Until you click it, your account stays active.
  4. Click the link, then "Delete permanently". Deletion takes effect immediately: you are signed out of all your devices and you can no longer sign in with this address.

Before you start

Deletion cannot start while your account has an active paid subscription, documents awaiting signature, or a workspace you own that has other members. Cancel the subscription first, wait for or cancel the pending signatures, and transfer ownership of the workspace. The deletion screen tells you exactly what remains to be settled.

Deletion is permanent and is not followed by a cooling-off period: once the confirmation link is clicked, the account cannot be restored.

2. What is erased, what is kept, and why

What is erased

Your personal data is anonymised as soon as you confirm: first name, last name, email address, phone number, company, job title, profile picture and logo, saved signature, password and two-factor authentication, Google or Microsoft sign-ins, access keys and automatic notifications, as well as the connections to third-party services you had linked. Nobody can sign in to this account any more, nor identify you from what remains of it.

What is kept

Signed documents and their proof of signature (who signed, when, and how) are kept for 10 years after signing, as required by the eIDAS regulation and the French Civil Code: they serve as evidence for everyone who signed, not only for you. Technical data (connection logs) is kept for 12 months at most. These retentions are provided for by the GDPR (Article 17, paragraph 3) where a legal obligation requires them.

These documents no longer carry your name or email address in your profile: only the proof of signature, as it was established at the time of signing, is kept.

3. Request deletion without access to your account

If you can no longer sign in (lost email address, inaccessible account), write to us at privacy@certyneo.com, preferably from the email address linked to the account. State the address of the account to delete. We may ask you for something that lets us check you are its holder, then we process the request within the time limit set by the GDPR and confirm by email once the deletion is done.

4. Learn more

The details of the data we process, its retention periods and your other rights (access, rectification, portability, objection) are set out in our privacy policy.

For any question about deleting your account or your data, write to us at privacy@certyneo.com.
