What is a purchase agreement for EDF OA?

The contract for the purchase of photovoltaic electricity, commonly known as the EDF OA contract (Purchase Obligation), is the commitment by which EDF Obligation d'Achat (a subsidiary of EDF, obliged purchaser designated by the State) undertakes to purchase for 20 years all or part of the electricity produced by a photovoltaic installation, at an indexed and guaranteed price.

Why sign the EDF OA purchase contract electronically?

Accepted EDF OA since 2019

EDF OA has been accepting photovoltaic purchase contracts signed with an advanced signature (AES) eIDAS via its EDF OA Solaire portal since 2019.

Tripartite owner + installer + EDF OA

The OA contract involves three parties: the owner (producer), the installer RGE QualiPV (often the agent for the procedure), EDF OA (buyer).

20 years of aligned OA contract duration

The OA contract has a term of 20 years (Tariff Order).Certyneo archives the contract + audit trail eIDAS for 10 years (minimum legal term) with possible contract extension to cover the entire duration of the OA contract + 5 years after expiry.

The eIDAS audit trail is open to objection

Each OA contract is supplied with a PDF of proof: identity of the signatories (producer + EDF OA + installer), qualified time stamping, SHA-256 hash, IP geolocation, OTP SMS verification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the EDF OA PV contract be signed electronically?
Yes, without restriction since 2019 via the EDF OA Solar portal. The Energy Code does not impose any particular form for the OA contract. The advanced eIDAS signature benefits from the presumption of reliability of Article 1367 of the Civil Code essential for a 20-year commitment.
What is the purchase price of photovoltaics in 2026?
The tariff is fixed by tariff Decree S2 2026 (second half of 2026), published quarterly by the CRE (Commission de régulation de l'énergie). For installations ≤ 100 kWc on total sale, about 10-13 c€/kWh depending on power. For sale of surplus with self-consumption, investment premium + surplus purchase tariff. Guaranteed and indexed tariff over 20 years.
Total sales, surplus sales, collective self-consumption: what is the difference?
Total sales = 100% of the production sold to EDF OA, injection connection only. Surplus sales = self-consumption + resale of the surplus to EDF OA, extraction and injection connection. Collective self-consumption (Decree 2017-676) = production shared between consumers within a radius of 2 km (20 km in rural areas) via a PMO.
What is the duration of the EDF OA contract?
20 years since the 2017 tariff decree for the photovoltaic roof. The contract starts on the date of commissioning certified by the Consul. At the end of the contract, the possibility of extension at the market rate or switching to another buyer (aggregerator, alternative supplier).
What documents does EDF OA require with the contract?
Consular certificate (AC or Green Visa), qualiPV RGE certificate from the installer, proof of ownership or lease with authorization, unifilar scheme, floor plan, price and invoice paid, Enedis connection contract (CRAE).
Is the price of photovoltaic photovoltaic products indexed?
Yes, the purchase price is indexed to the INSEE index of industrial output prices (IPP) for the electricity production and distribution sector.
Can the OA contract be terminated before 20 years ?
Yes, but with restrictions: on the producer side: possible termination with 1 year's notice + penalty (proportionate to seniority); on the EDF OA side: termination only in case of serious non-compliance (fraud, persistent technical non-conformity).
What happens when the 20 years are up?
At the end of the contract, the OA contract expires. The producer can: (1) renew the contract at the market rate with EDF OA, (2) sign a new contract with an alternative supplier or aggregator, (3) switch to 100% self-consumption.
