Certificat de travail (employment certificate)
Definition
The work certificate is a document that the employer must compulsorily provide to the employee at the end of any employment contract (art. L1234-19 and D1234-6 of the Labour Code), regardless of the reason for termination. It mentions the entry and exit dates, the nature of positions held and corresponding periods. It is a "retrieval" document: it is held at the employee''s disposal, who comes to collect it. It can be signed and delivered electronically with full legal effect.
