Contracts for the sale of land must be in writing (LP(MP)A 1989, s. 2)

A contract for the sale or other disposition of land must be made in writing, incorporate all agreed terms and be signed by the parties (Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989, s. 2). HM Land Registry accepts electronic signatures for registrable dispositions (Practice Guide 82); transfers executed as deeds require a physically present witness.

Form-free tenancies and evidential weight

Yes. Tenancy agreements (other than long leases that must be by deed) are form-free and can be signed entirely electronically. The advanced signature (AES) of Certyneo evidences identity, time and integrity and is admissible as evidence.

Can I complete a property sale through Certyneo?
