Electronic signature from Google Drive and Gmail
Right-click any PDF in your Drive, choose "Open with Certyneo", and prepare the signature. Or send a Gmail attachment for signature straight from the side panel — no downloading and re-uploading.
Free to connect. Certyneo only reaches the files you hand it, never your whole Drive.
What the integration changes day to day
The "download from Drive, upload to the signing tool" round trip disappears. The document leaves for signature where it already lives.
"Open with Certyneo" in Drive
Right-clicking any PDF in your Drive opens envelope preparation directly: recipients, fields, send.
The Google picker inside Certyneo
From your document library, Google's own picker lets you take one or several PDFs, shared drives included.
Gmail attachments in one click
The Certyneo panel lists the PDFs in the open message. One button per attachment imports it without leaving Gmail.
No access to your whole Drive
Certyneo requests the drive.file scope, which only grants access to the files you explicitly designate. Your other documents stay invisible.
Where Certyneo shows up in Google Workspace
Five entry points, one connection: authorising Certyneo once covers them all.
| Location | What you can do there |
|---|---|
| Google Drive — "Open with" menu | Send a PDF already filed in Drive for signature, without downloading it. |
| Certyneo — document library | Take PDFs from your Drive through Google's own picker. |
| Gmail — side panel | Import a PDF attachment from the open message and start the signature. |
| Google Docs — side panel | See the envelopes you are waiting on and start a new one. |
| Google apps launcher | Open Certyneo from the apps grid, like any other Workspace tool. |
The Gmail panel only reads the message you have open: it has no access to the rest of your mailbox.
Set the integration up in two minutes
A single Google authorisation covers all five locations above.
- 1
Open Settings, then Integrations
In your Certyneo dashboard, the Google Drive card carries the connect button.
- 3
Designate your files
Either in Drive through "Open with Certyneo", or in Certyneo through the Google picker. That gesture is what grants access, file by file.
- 4
Prepare and send
The PDF lands in your Certyneo library. Add recipients, place the fields, send.
What Certyneo sees — and does not
The integration is built around the narrowest scope Google offers for Drive. That is a deliberate choice: a broad scope would give Certyneo visibility over documents that are none of its business.
- File-by-file access: only the documents you designate are readable.
- Tokens encrypted at rest, never logged.
- European hosting, published sub-processors, GDPR compliance.
- Every import leaves a line in your audit trail.
Frequently asked questions
Can Certyneo read every file in my Google Drive?
No. The integration requests the drive.file scope, which only grants access to files you designate yourself, through the Google picker or the "Open with Certyneo" menu. Every other file in your Drive stays invisible to Certyneo, including its name.
Do I have to go through the Google Workspace Marketplace?
You can connect your account straight from your Certyneo settings. Installing from the Marketplace additionally puts the "Open with Certyneo" entry in Drive and the side panel in Gmail and Docs, and lets an administrator deploy the tool across a whole domain.
Does the Gmail panel read my email?
It only sees the message you have open, and only while it is displayed. The scope in use is contextual: it grants no access to the rest of your mailbox, to your history, or to messages you have not opened.
Which formats can I import?
PDF. The Google picker and the Gmail panel only offer PDFs, so you are never allowed to pick a file that would be refused a second later. Other formats go through the ordinary Certyneo upload, which converts them.
Is the integration included in my plan?
The Google Drive connection is available on every plan, free included. Your plan's usual limits (file size, envelope count) apply to imported documents.
How do I cut off access?
In Certyneo, the "Disconnect" button on the Google Drive card revokes the token with Google. From Google, your account's third-party access page does the same. Documents already imported stay in Certyneo.
