Everything know about signature qualified (QES)

QES is only level signature electronics strictly equivalent to signature handwritten throughout European Union. Here is how it works and how use it on Certyneo.

What is signature qualified?

QES (Qualified Electronic Signature) is highest three levels signature electronics defined by regulation European eIDAS (UE) n°910/2014. It is legally equivalent to signature handwritten in 27 Member States, without formality supplementary.

Concretely, it relies on certificate numeric delivered personally to signatory after verification strict identity-nik, and created via device signature certified managed by provider services trust qualified (QTSP) appearing on list trust European.

When use QES rather than SES or AES?

For most contracts commercial, signature advanced (AES) is enough. QES becomes necessary in these cases :

  • Acts notarial and files transmitted to administrations requiring level qualified (INPI, certain prefectures).
  • Contracts very high stakes where force probante must be incontestable (M&A, cessions real estate).
  • Markets public and appeals offers requesting explicitly signature level qualified.
  • Signatures value transnational where recipient requires level eIDAS maximal.

How it works in practice

Step 1

Signatory installs Evrotrust or itsme

Only once, from App Store or Google Play. Creation account with scan identity-nik piece and selfie video (5 to 10 minutes).

Step 2

You send your envelope Certyneo

In wizard sending, choose level « Qualified (QES) ». Recipient receives email as for any signature Certyneo.

Step 3

Signatory signs from app

He clicks link in email, opens app, confirms with PIN/biometry-nik. Signature qualified is affixed and document signed returns automatically on Certyneo.

Install Evrotrust in 5 minutes

Evrotrust is application signature qualified most accessible to users European. It is compatible iOS and Android and recognized by all QTSP partners Certyneo.

  1. Download application

    Choose your store : App Store for iPhone, Google Play for Android. Installation is free.

  2. Create your account

    Provide your name, first name, email and number telephone. Code verification is sent by SMS.

  3. Scan your piece identity

    Card identity, passport or title stay. Application guides taking photo (front, back, hologram).

  4. Video selfie

    Short video (~10 seconds) is recorded to confirm your identity. Account is activated immediately after validation by their teams (few minutes).

How much does it cost?

9,90 € incl. tax

per signature qualified (beyond plan Certyneo)

Billed at usage on your next invoice monthly Certyneo. No cost fixed : if none your signatories uses QES in month, no surcharge is added. Signatures Simple (SES) and Advanced (AES) remain included in your plan without surcharge.

Frequent questions

Signatory must have account Evrotrust before receive envelope?

Ideally yes — otherwise he must interrupt signature to install app then return. For recipients you know not equipped, notify them by email before send envelope QES.

Can use itsme instead of Evrotrust?

Yes, but itsme is available only for residents Belgian (number telephone and account bank Belgian required to enrollment). For rest European Union, Evrotrust is good option.

QES has it really same value as signature handwritten?

Yes — it is explicitly written in article 25 regulation eIDAS. No authority, judge or administration European can refuse QES for reason it is electronics. It is only level benefits from this presumption automatic.

What happens if signatory abandons in course of signature?

No signature is affixed, so no surcharge is billed. Envelope remains in wait until signatory returns, or until you cancel it from your dashboard.
