New: Qualified Signature (QES) eIDAS available per act — €14.90/signature
The free electronic signature, legally valid in your country and internationally
The electronic signature solution to send, sign and track your documents in just a few clicks. Every signed document comes with its own evidence file — identified signer, timestamp, audit trail — designed to meet electronic signature laws, from eIDAS in Europe to the ESIGN Act and UETA in the United States.
Every country has its own electronic signature law. Here is the one that applies to you, and what Certyneo attaches to every document to meet it.
United States
ESIGN Act and UETA
The federal ESIGN Act (2000) and UETA, adopted by 49 states, give electronic signatures the same value as a handwritten signature; New York State applies an equivalent law (ESRA). The law requires intent to sign, the parties' agreement to contract electronically, the signature's attachment to the document, and its retention. Certyneo's evidence file establishes who signed, what, and when, and retains the signed document.

General information, which does not constitute legal advice.
Why Certyneo over another platform?
Three technical and legal commitments that set us apart from American electronic signature solutions.
Your data protected by European law, wherever you sign
The entire platform is hosted in the European Union, under the GDPR, one of the strictest data protection regimes in the world. Your documents are stored and processed exclusively in the EU, safe from the extraterritorial reach of the US Cloud Act and FISA. For regulated sectors — healthcare, banking, defense, legal — as for any company that signs with partners abroad, this means a single, auditable processing chain, whatever the signer's country.
Open standards and verifiable signatures
Our signatures follow the ETSI EN 319 142 (PAdES) standard and RFC 3161 for timestamping, when obtained. The evidence attached to each signed document can be examined by an independent third party — a lawyer, a bailiff, a court — without access to our platform. No proprietary lock-in: if you leave Certyneo, your signed documents keep their evidence.
Transparent pricing, no hidden fees
No hidden cost per signer, no surcharge for automatic reminders, no quota reduction at month's end. Our free plan remains indefinitely usable and includes eIDAS SES-level compliance. Paid plans start at €9/month with no annual commitment, and we offer a 14-day refund policy without justification.
Everything you need to sign with confidence
Powerful features to simplify your signature workflows.
Legally binding signature
Electronic signatures at the three levels — SES, AES and QES — set out by the eIDAS regulation, one of the most demanding frameworks in the world. Every signed document is cryptographically sealed, comes with a certificate issued by a European trust service provider, and includes its own evidence file: enough to establish who signed, what, and when — in Europe as in countries that apply the ESIGN Act, UETA, or a law based on the UN's model laws.
Multi-signer
Set signing order, add validators, and manage complex workflows with ease.
Real-time tracking
Track every envelope's progress: opening, reading, signing, rejection—all in real-time.
Reusable templates
Create document templates with pre-positioned fields to speed up your sends.
Powerful API
Integrate Certyneo into your existing tools with our complete, well-documented REST API.
Security and compliance
TLS 1.3 for every connection, SMS OTP for advanced signatures, and hosting inside the European Union.
Integrations
Connect Slack, HubSpot, Salesforce (beta), Zapier, or Make to push signing events directly into your tools—without a single line of code.
Designed for every team
Ready-to-use business use cases, deployable in days without changing your tools.
Frequently Asked Questions about electronic signature
Everything you need to know before signing your first document online.
Does electronic signature have the same legal value as a handwritten signature?
Yes, in the vast majority of countries. Electronic signature laws almost everywhere rest on the same principle, drawn from the UN's model laws (UNCITRAL): a signature cannot be denied effect merely because it is electronic. In the European Union, the eIDAS regulation (No. 910/2014) makes it enforceable in every Member State; in the United States, it is the ESIGN Act and UETA. Certyneo offers the three levels provided for by eIDAS (simple, advanced and qualified), with time-stamped cryptographic proof attached to every signed document.
Is my Certyneo signature valid outside the European Union?
No single text makes a signature recognized in every country: each country applies its own law. What matters before a judge is the evidence file — identified signer, sealed document, timestamp, audit trail, archiving — and Certyneo attaches one to every signed document. This file meets the laws that accept any reliable electronic signature (United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia) as well as eIDAS requirements. Two limits to know: the eIDAS qualified signature only holds "qualified" status within the European Union, and some countries, including India and Brazil, reserve an enhanced legal presumption for certificates issued by their own national authorities. Finally, certain acts — wills, notarized deeds, real-estate sales — remain excluded from electronic signature in many countries.
What is the difference between simple, advanced and qualified signatures?
Simple electronic signature (SES) authenticates a signatory by email and is sufficient for most business contracts. Advanced signature (AES) adds SMS OTP and a certificate linked to the signatory, recommended for HR, credit and sensitive contracts. Qualified signature (QES) requires face-to-face or video identity verification and provides the highest probative value provided for by eIDAS.
What is the eIDAS regulation?
eIDAS (electronic IDentification, Authentication and trust Services) is European regulation No. 910/2014 that governs electronic identification and trust services in the European Union since 2016. It defines the legal value of electronic signature, technical requirements for trust service providers and levels of assurance applicable to signatures.
How long are my documents archived?
All documents signed on Certyneo are retained for 10 years in an encrypted digital vault, included in all plans at no extra cost. Archiving complies with the requirements of Article 1379 of the French Civil Code and remains accessible at any time via your client dashboard or via REST API.
Is Certyneo GDPR compliant?
Yes. Certyneo is fully hosted in the European Union, no customer data leaves European territory. We offer a DPA (Data Processing Agreement) that can be signed on request, an up-to-date subprocessor register, and export and deletion tools that comply with GDPR rights for your signers.
How do I migrate from DocuSign or Yousign?
Our migration team accompanies you free of charge: recovery of your existing templates, import of your address book, training for your users and recovery of signature history when technically possible. The switch typically takes between 48 hours and 5 business days depending on volume.
What file formats are supported?
PDF natively (recommended format), as well as Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx), images (PNG, JPG) and OpenDocument. All non-PDF formats are automatically converted to PDF before signing.
Can I sign from a smartphone?
Yes. The signing interface is fully responsive and works on any recent mobile browser (iOS Safari, Android Chrome, Firefox), with no application to install for the signer. Administrators can manage their envelopes from our iOS and Android applications available on the App Store and Google Play.
Is there an API to integrate Certyneo?
Yes. A complete REST API allows you to create envelopes, manage templates, track statuses in real time and receive HMAC-signed webhooks for each event (send, open, sign, refuse). Public OpenAPI documentation, free test environment and transparent rate limits.
What is the right price for a SME?
Our Standard plan at €19/month covers 100 envelopes and 10 users with advanced eIDAS signature, sufficient for most SMEs. For teams exceeding this volume, the Business plan at €39/month adds batch sending, web forms for mobile and payment collection during signature.
